Purpose/Mission:
The primary purpose of Dol Amroth is to promote, discuss, discover and study in the written works and life of Professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1896-1973), by means of fellowship, meetings, moots and gatherings. Our mission is to develop membership and interest in our Smial, which will be a foundation for future program development, including literature distribution, journals, fundraising, meetings, interviews, news and other media.
Founded in January of 2007, we are the official Texas Smial for The International Tolkien Society, in London, which was founded in 1969. We run entirely on a volunteer basis and we shall strive and aim to make our intentions, those of the Tolkien Society.
Membership is open to anyone:
Anyone may join as a member of the Dol Amroth Smial.
(you are not required to be a member of the International Tolkien Society, although we encourage it.)
Annual Membership: $10.00
Under 12ys old Membership: $5.00
All proceeds from Smial membership will go towards the Tolkien Society Membership fee, promotion, upkeep and operation of website, boards, and future publications and programs.
Membership Benefits:
Annual Journal publication, Membership Card, Bulletins and other benefits to be named as the smial develops.

The Dol Amroth Code: Terms and Rules
The Dol Amroth code serves as a foundation for the terms and rules of the Texas Tolkien Society. These guidelines, rules, and processes will be further defined as the Society Develops.
1. The society name is the Texas Tolkien Society “Dol Amroth” and shall be registered and recognized as a Smial, by the International Tolkien Society. We may also refer to the society as the “Dol Amroth” Smial, or the TTS (Texas Tolkien Society)
2. The society shall be run by the Dol Amroth Council consisting of: The Founder of Dol Amroth, The Steward of Dol Amroth and the Officers of Dol Amroth. All records and documents for the smial will be kept and maintained by the Council. All changes and amendments to membership or smial operation shall be approved by the Founder and the Steward. Officers and others appointed shall handle responsibilities and duties as they become assigned. All officers are required to be registered members of Dol Amroth. Titles, operational departments and responsibilities of the Council, will be added and amended to, as the smial develops.
3. Dol Amroth Membership is recognized upon approval of the Membership Application and Annual Dues Payment. The annual membership shall run 12 months from the date. Members will be alerted via email or postal mail to renew annual membership, at least 1 month in advance of membership expiration. There will be a small window in which to pay membership renewals before it is officially expired.
The Dol Amroth Pledge: (to be included on membership application)
“I do solemnly swear to uphold the Dol Amroth Code, and as a member of the Texas Tolkien Society, promise to aid and support the Dol Amroth Smial. I also promise to promote the works of JRR Tolkien, and enlighten others toward his literature, writing and artworks.”
