'In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.' --The Hobbit ************************************************************************** This thread is about our place of comfort...where do you hail from and what makes your town or the Shire so perfect and wonderful. What events are held there?
This doesn't have to be a Texas home town...it's wherever you plant your feet and call home.
We are also looking for future event locations. Places where we'd like to have a moot gathering...or... an unexpected party!
But aside from even that...we still want to know more about your place you call home

I'll take a whack at it. I USED to live in Texas.... does that count for anything? I was born in Shreveport, LA...that is CLOSE to Texas. Okay, so my home now is Vancouver, WA....for those who might not know, that is directly accross the river (The Columbia river) from Portland, OR. It is beautiful, lush, green and yes, it does rain here about 1/2 of the year. But most people think when they read that it rains that much that like every day it pours buckets on our soggy heads. Not so, some days are overcast, some days it sprinkles, some days it rains hard then stops and the skies are blue again. But if it is not clear skies, then it is considered a rainy day. Doubt that folk would want to come up to this part of the planet for a moot, but we do have like 10 TORCers that live in this neck of the woods so to speak. I have got together with a few of them already and look forward to more mini moots. Also have a trip planned to Texas this year, late summer or early fall. Hope to get to meet you P~J and Enty. Maybe even Harvi? Where is that rascally Harvi anyway? I guess before I I should offer a

This Elf lives in Sulphur Springs. A truly beautiful "Shire" town with farms, horses, cattle, acres of scenic pasture land. It's perfect for a gathering. I'm a member of the Hopkins County Historical Society, and we have a wonderful park that has a man made large pond, a woods section for the Elven folk and Ents, a covered pavillion, kitchen (a necessity for Hobbits) and all the makings for a great "unexpected party" . Sulphur Springs is right on the I-30 between Dallas and Texarcana.

This is really exciting!
